CAPSICUM CHICKEN MASALA

In a jest of creating a new chicken dish, Capsicum Chicken was innovated by me. It is one of those Indian-Chinese fusion dishes that very soon became popular in my family. Nutrients from Capsicum & Protein from Chicken, will definetly give you the feeling of having a nourishing homemade meal. Its a very easy to cook & tasty dish. The Capsicum adds or enhances a nice flavour to the dish. A twist from the routine...

Ingredients :

1 Kg Chicken (medium cut)
3 medium Capsicum
3 medium Onion
3 medium tomatoes
2 tblsp oil

For marinade :

2 tblsp ginger garlic paste
2 tblsp soya sauce
1 tblsp tomato ketchup
1 tsp chilli sauce
1 tsp black pepper powder

For masala paste :

12-13 dry red chillies (bedagi)
1 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
2-3 methi seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric pd.
small piece cinnamon & 2 cloves
1/2 onion chopped
2-3 garlic cloves
small piece tamarind

Method :

1. Clean the chicken & marinate it with the ingredients for about an hour.
2. Chop the onion, capsicum & tomato into about 1/4 inch chunks.
3. First dry grind the spices... then add onion, garlic, tamarind & little water and grind to a smooth paste.
4. Heat oil in a cooking vessel, add the chopped onions. Fry till it changes colour, now add the capsicum and finally the tomatoes & saute till they are soft.
5. Add the marinated chicken, salt & saute for 3-4 minutes.
6. Now add the masala paste, a cup of water & cook on slow flame till the oil separates.(approx 20-25 min)
7. When plating garnish with carrot & capsicum juliennes and a tomato peel rose in the centre.
7. Serve hot with steamed rice, dosa or butter naan.
