Prawn Cutlet is a delicious and amazingly tasty Indian patties served as a appetizer snack for all you seafood lovers. This Prawn Cutlet recipe is prepared with prawn or shrimp, spices, herbs and breadcrumbs.
This is a delicious finger food and are truely relished at any cocktail parties, as a starter or a side dish for any occasion. You can also prepare them in advance... just before making you can thaw them and fry. For binding, I have used soaked bread ... and coated the croquettes with refined flour paste and breadcrumbs.
Ingredients :
300-400 gms Prawns
1 big Onion minced
4-5 Green Chillies minced
5-6 garlic cloves minced
1 inch piece ginger minced
2 bread sliced soaked and squeezed
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
handful fresh Coriander leaves chopped fine
1 whole lime juice
2 tsp refined flour
2 tsp cornflour
1/2 cup bread crumbs
salt to taste
2 tsp oil
oil for deep frying
Method :
1. Clean and devein the Prawns. In a small pan cook the prawns with very little salt till they are slightly pink. Drain and chop/ mince them fine and keep aside.
2. Finely chop/ mince the onion, green chilli, garlic, ginger. Chop the coriander leaves fine.
3. Heat 2 tsp oil in a kadai, fry the minced onion, green chilli, garlic and ginger till they change colour. Now add the powder spices and saute for a minute.
4. Add the minced prawns along with the squeezed & crumbled bread slices, Lime juice, coriander leaves and salt.
5. Mix thoroughly ... switch off heat and allow it to cool.
6. Meanwhile, in a small bowl add the cornflour, refined flour with little water and make a thin batter.
7. Make the prawn mixture into small sized round shaped (lemon size) balls and press in your palm.
Flatten a little bit.
8. Now dip the cutlets in the batter and roll it over the bread crumbs.
9. Heat oil and deep fry the croquettes till golden brown in colour.
10.Remove, drain onto an absorbent kitchen towel or tissue.
11.Hot Prawn cutlets are ready to be served with tomato sauce or any dip of your choice.
