SQUID FRY / MANGALOREAN BONDAS RINGS

Bondas fried rings are an amazing snack that is served as an appetizer in restaurants. It can be made very quickly using very few basic ingredients. Bondas also known as squid is a favorite dish among seafood lovers. It has a meaty texture. It remains tender when cooked just right but turns rubbery when over cooked.  Kids love to put it in their fingers and enjoy....and believe me kids love it the most. Squid is high in protein, minerals and low in calories. This makes squid or calamari a highly nutritious meal....also a good source of vitamin B 12 and B6....it has good amounts of selenium and Vitamin E too.


Ingredients :

6-7 medium size Bondas/ Squid tubes
1/4 cup maida
1/4 cup cornflour
2-3 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp black pepper powder
salt to taste
chopped spring onion greens
lime wedges
oil for frying

Method :

1. Clean the Bondas/ Squid and cut into rings.
2. In a bowl mix in Maida, cornflour, salt, red chilli powder and freshly ground pepper powder.
3. Mix in the Squid rings in the flour mixture and drop them in hot oil.
4. Deep fry the rings till they turn slightly brown and crispy.
5. Serve hot garnished with chopped spring onion greens and few lime wedges.
